0x Universe is a particularly innovative game in the crypto space where players launch rockets on expeditions to discover new planets. When a player discovers a new planet it is colonized by the population dispatched and becomes a newly minted NFT they own. Obtaining a rocket requires knowledge which is created through population researching. Population is generated on all planets in your control daily and the rate is based on the planets quality. In addition to population, resources are generated and are required to build rockets.
The overall objective is to expand your intergalactic empire discovering new planets, renting their population out to other users and advancing your claim to the galaxy in a tycoon style gameplay. Players may also purchase shares into one of 5 currently existing corporations if they wish to play as a team as well. Corporations will also play a vital role in the upcoming wars update expected this summer.
Planets are not strictly limited to personal use or renting out however. Planets may build structures such as Factories which produce energy (the games native token) as well as other planned buildings like decorative structures and transport buildings that haven't been released yet. Energy has a very minimal use case currently like boosting a rockets planet finding success rate or speeding up the time it takes to build a factory. Its said to play a key role in the corporation wars though!
The greatest drawback to 0xUniverse is that updates are never on time and very few of them take place each year causing low morale in the community and lack of new player retention. The developer is also very poor in his communication and it makes it difficult for their CMO who actually engages with the community to answer questions as even he is left out of the loop.
On the bright side the long term veterans are still playing and extremely loyal. The community is also very welcoming and one of the best iv seen in the crypto space.
In conclusion, 0xUniverse is a really unique idea and has the potential to scale into something big, it has a loyal community and can be quite a fun pass time. The developer needs to work on his communication skills and push more content or at the very least, add small events to keep people engaged. Until this approves, the game is basically a slot machine where you pay gas to launch a rocket in hopes you get a planet to cover the expense and keep launching.
