Great patterns for beginner knitters

When I first got back into knitting I looked through this book several times at my local library but couldn't find it in bookstores. I was so excited when I saw Revane had it for sale. I love all of the simple yet elegant imagery that Debbie Bliss has put into this wonderful book. My first project will be a jacket with seed seam tape on page 82. Your illustrations and instructions look easy enough to follow. This is something to have on the shelf or give as a gift.

Pros
  • Great product
Cons
  • Something different

Frustrating and confusing

The designs in this book are amazing! Unfortunately, the title of this book is misleading. I have some knitting experience but thought this would be a great way to start with true to size clothing. Children's sweater?! I thought it would be a faster and cheaper way to learn how to knit a sweater. Patterns seem almost mysterious. At first I thought they were only for experienced knitters, but it turned out they weren't. Even the most experienced knitters seem to "guess” the interpretation…

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • No instructions

Good solid book

I looked through a lot of Bliss books before deciding on this one - it has some really good projects in it. I wasn't exactly a beginner knitter when I took this on, so some projects were unattractive to me. But I sewed a sweater with a boat, cashmere ankle boots and an umbilical hat (several times, to the delight of friends). I'm starting to knit a cardigan in garter stitch. However, it would be nice to have diagrams showing how the parts should be stacked/interlocked. I've used different yarns

Pros
  • Very impressive
Cons
  • boring packaging
