Description of High-performance Electric Fuel Pump: Replacement for Mercury Mercruiser 4.3, 5.0, 5.7, 7.4, 8.2 EFI MPI Fuel Injected Engines (861156a1)

Replaces OEM part number 861156A1. High pressure for fuel injected engines only. small outlet end is NOT threaded. small outlet end is NOT threaded. Small outlet end is NOT threaded. Small outlet end is NOT threaded. Meets or exceeds OEM quality. This is the fuel pump that is used in the 'cool fuel' assembly. The small outlet is NOT threaded since it is only used in the 'cool fuel' assembly. The low pressure pumps looks like this but the small outlet is threaded and goes in-line. The hi and low pressure pumps look the same except for the threaded or non-threaded small end.

Bad component or counterfeit

Built at 80+ PSI. Probably around 45psi. I suspect there's a reason this pump costs $5 when others of the same model cost $200 and up.

Pros
  • Meets or exceeds OEM quality
Cons
  • Annoying

Revainrating 1 out of 5

It's no use, they forgot to put an end through.

A forgotten step in the manufacturing process. One end was plain and unthreaded as seen in the photos or the original part it was meant to replace. I don't even think it's worth rolling the dice to get a replacement.

Pros
  • High pressure fuel injection engines only
Cons
  • Functionality

Not worth the time and will fail in due course.

This is garbage. I am a certified marine technician and unfortunately let the customer persuade me to install it and immediately after installation the fuel pump whined loudly. After 20 minutes of operation, the pump will heat up and turn off. Let's go the OEM way this time. That's good for me, I get paid twice for the installation but the customer loses 2x more work at 350.00 each time. Spend your hard-earned money wisely and buy OEM.

Pros
  • This is the fuel pump used in the "cold fuel" assembly. The small outlet is NOT threaded as it is only used in a "cold fuel" assembly. Low-pressure pumps look like this, but the small outlet is threaded and in-line. The high and low pressure pumps look the same except for the small threaded or unthreaded end.
Cons
  • Something is wrong
