Repair it yourself for $30 vs. $325 at a service center

This kit has just about everything you need to repair a faulty dryer at a price no service technician can match. Everything is easy to swap out, it literally takes 5 minutes including searching and watching a 3 minute manual on YouTube and the service technician I originally called wanted 11x the price of the kit to fix my dryer. The only downside to this kit is that it doesn't have a thermal fuse or extra wires, but you can find similar kits with these items or buy them separately. For some…

Blown out in 2 months

Bought and installed this heating element while trying to figure out why my dryer stopped heating. It turned out that the problem was the timer, not the heating element, but I left this replacement installed anyway, believing the new one might work better than the original. out and damage their housing. There are small black burned bits on the underside of my dryer just below where this heating element is installed and the block itself looks burned on the top 4 rows of coils. Died in just a few

Now it's official with the spare parts

UPDATE: Mid-December this exchange failed, so 0.9 months? Maybe I got a bad one. I'm ordering another one as it's cheap and I don't want to look for an alternative just before Christmas. If this second one fails within two years, I will write a follow-up update. Fingers crossed. Same failure mode as the original, looks like the coil section has become brittle and broken.
