🔩 Gates Tensioner for Belt 38357 Review

Bought as a service replacement for a 2008 Mazda 3 and it fits perfectly. Installation on this engine was easy and the new tensioner is quiet. Gates is a good brand for tensioners, water pumps and belts so I believe they will last a long time.

This tensioner has a metal pulley which I prefer to the plastic pulley that came with my old tensioner. If you hear strange noises in the belt area, this tensioner pulley may be defective. You can just buy the pulley itself, but after 145,000 miles I decided to replace the whole assembly.

Used on Mazda 3 2004 2.3L. I saw and heard the old one humming at idle. I decided to go ahead and replace both belts and tensioners. This part of the gate fits perfectly. I found several service manual pages online but must have used the wrong torque to attach it to the engine because one of them broke off. I immediately stopped dressing to avoid damage. Despite suspicions of one of the mounting screws, it has been working great for a few months now and is much quieter.

I bought this for Mazda3 2.3L Sedan '05. I give this product 4.5 stars (9/10) but gave the product a 5 star rating because it fully conforms to the description and installation. simple, it took less than 5 minutes from bonnet to bonnet.
