Good value for money for suspension tools

I felt safe using this compressor as the U-bolts fully enclose portions of the spring coils rather than partially like other brands. It would have been easier for me if the big bolts were longer as I couldn't wrap all parts of the springs and had to compress them by hand when I screwed the nuts on the ends.

  • Decent performance

Not compatible with thicker springs!

Quality made in Iowa under the Lisle brand but not compatible with 2004 Tundra strut springs. Clamps are too small to hold the thicker springs and unwilling to compromise the safety and integrity of the modify and endanger the product. Whilst seemingly sturdy and of low fuss construction, one waited for it to arrive only to find out it wasn't compatible, simply having to send it back to Revain for a refund! Nevertheless 5 stars!

SAFETY FIRST - BUY AMERICAN!

It is a great pleasure to have this affordable Lisle instrument! Compressing a spring is always a critical operation, as a large amount of potential energy, if released unexpectedly, can be deadly. I appreciate the way the U-bolts grip the coil spring as an added safety measure. Follow the manufacturer's instructions and liberally grease the threads. This is one of the instruments I have insisted on being made in the USA as inconsistent Chinese quality can lead to disaster.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Available in white only

The safest alternative to a wall mounted spring compressor

Used to replace front struts on a Honda CRV01. U-bolts came loose between coil and strut with little clearance. Once sprung and compressed there was no problem with slippage or anything like that. My roommate and I were overwhelmed by how easy and safe it was to use. I highly recommend anyone who wants to do this job alone without the risk of sending the quill in the neighbor's bay window or, worse, catching the quill behind the forehead. Spend a little more than other "pinned" compressors.

Pros
  • Good product for the price

The safest spring compressor in this price range.

It did its job perfectly and I highly recommend this tool. LUBRICATE LOTS of threads before use. It's very well done. The design makes it MUCH safer than single pin spring compressors. I would NOT approach them because the sources are extremely dangerous. However, to be honest you may want to purchase the entire strut/spring assembly (quick strut) if quality is available, especially on a very high mileage car, as all the other components are bound to wear out quite a bit and you won't until you

don't buy the cheaper ones. it will last and be sure.

I'm looking at the cheaper ones (about half the price) and the ones you rent from the auto parts store. That might be normal for a small car, but even then they look cheap and unsafe. The hazard from a compressed spring is pretty high, so since I like my hands, for $30 more I figured I'd give it a try. It is made in the USA. It has existed for many years. It is very durable. It is screwed to the spring so that it cannot slip. I've used it a few times while working on Mustang race carriers. Keep

The best version of this style of spring compressor I've seen

I've used them occasionally in my home workshop for about two decades. You can buy replacement nuts for them if the nut is lost or worn out, but after many uses I decided to buy a new set as mine were starting to show noticeable wear. I like the very simple and reliable way of attaching the U-bolts to the spring. compressed. Nothing can slip and slide away from you, unlike some of the more common "hook" knots on the market. Lubricate heavy lead screws and nuts with gear oil or chassis grease…

Extra coarse thread screw and thin wall nut

The packaging and some parts state that this is for McPherson struts only, not coil springs. Separately, I bought these to replace my shocks with a Tacoma 07, but as a compressor safety tool - it will be a third compressor with a safety spool to back up the two main compressor tools I will be using. I can even use both, 4 in total if they all fit. Coils I bought dishes ARB 2885 17 mm thick. I need to open the U-bolts 0.2mm as they are 16.85mm wide. The Class 8 3/4" bolt is 10" long and has an…
