Description of Marumi DHG 72Mm Achromat Lens

The lens is made from materials of different refractive indexes, constructed in such a way as to minimize chromatic aberration (which in a single lens causes coloured fringes around images because the lens diffracts the different wavelengths in white light to slightly different extents). Marumi Achromat Macro filters are designed to shorten the focusing distance of your lens and to enhance its macro mode capabilities with outstanding clarity. If your lens already has a macro mode, Achromat will increase and enhance it, allowing for even greater magnification. This Filter are manufactured to the highest standard and feature ultra low reflection coating and are mounted in specially designed rings which feature a low reflection satin like finish.

The macro lens works great!

I use a Marumi macro lens with Sony A6000 and Sony 18-135mm and it works great! Previously, I was able to focus closest to about 12-14 inches at the 135mm setting (200mm in 35mm terms). Now I can focus to about 7-8 inches with a Marumi macro lens. I calculated that I could approach a 1:1 enlargement. I can't detect any chromatic aberration and the images are sharp. The only downside to this very high magnification is that the depth of field is shallow. So it's best to mount your camera on a…

Closer, closer, closer.

Scrolled it on a Fuji GF 120mm F4 macro lens to get more macro zoom. A most honest depiction of the budding of a weed. I collect +3+5 loupes with 52, 62, 72 and 77mm thread for a complete set. If you choose an auxiliary lens, you'll benefit from +3 and +5 as they have better foreground and background control for subject perspective and framing. When focusing very close, it's difficult to capture subjects close to detail, as tiny camera movements result in large effects on the plane of the…

Pleasantly Surprised

Works much better than I expected. When used correctly, I don't see any distortion, color fringing or loss of sharpness on my Nikon D7000. When shooting wide open, I noticed some color fringing in out-of-focus areas closer to the edge of the frame. I tested with two lenses: Nikkor 18-105 AF-S and Nikkor 70-300 AF-S. I found this filter very handy at 18-105 for close-up photography, but at the long end of 70-300 it really turns the camera into a microscope. You cannot photograph anything larger…

Sturdy lens construction

After using this lens for a while I decided to change my review. First, the quality is surprisingly good. You can buy them one size to fit your lens, or you can buy a larger size and use them with an adapter ring so they work with several different lenses. The only downside to buying a larger size is that they are a bit heavy and the larger the size the heavier they are. They work best with Zoom, in my opinion, because Zoom lets you change the magnification as you zoom in and out. +5 works best

I'm so glad I found this!

I've been a photographer longer than I can imagine. But I didn't know anything about near achromats and I'm very glad I finally found out. I wanted to get back into macro photography. My main macro lens is great, but it's for a 35mm camera. Kodachrome is gone and now I've invested in digital gear. I've been looking at the Lens Baby range, but got lazy in my "golden years" and prefer to use aperture or shutter priority on my through-lens metering camera. Top notch macro with image stabilization…
