Works for my garden fence

Bought the one with the sensitivity switch because so many complained it's too sensitive. With the sensitivity switch on, it detects voltage in the wire whether the fence is plugged in or not. With the sensitivity off it works perfectly. So much better than my old two prong wired light I can only use at night because I can barely see it: this lights up well and also beebs for me too.

Pros
  • Non-Contact Voltage Tester with LCD Display
Cons
  • May not work well with large conductors

Useful tool to help me fix my Christmas tree light issue

I got this tool after reading some reviews about how it was used to diagnose someone's Christmas deco lights. Yes, it worked for me as well. Before I had this tool, it was very tedious to find where some lights on a Christmas wreath failed. With this tool, you connect the wire, and it would beep till you encounter a bad light, and then you just replace that light, and so on. It can be useful for other non-contact check of electricity circuit too.

Pros
  • ‎Alkaline
Cons
  • Limited range for detecting voltage fluctuations

Device works with DIY

This device is not as accurate as I hoped it would be in determining the common or hot wires. If it is even close to any other disconnected wires, it may also flash and beep as if it were the "hot" one. Otherwise, it is as described and when it does work, the flashing light and beeping sound are quite clear. The small flashlight on the tip is also handy when lighting at the box is lacking.

Pros
  • Good
Cons
  • May not work on certain types of insulation

Ok but accuracy may not be perfect

It’s ok. It’s certainly cheap feeling but you get what you pay for. It works but it was also reading electric currents where there are none so I am hesitant to trust this. I have a different named brand one that is going strong for years but is much more expensive. I guess it’s my fault for going cheaper. Bottom line: will it work, yes. It comes with batteries so that is good, but I can’t say how accurate it will be.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • May give inconsistent readings depending on the angle of the device

GREAT LITTLE PROXIMITY TWETER FOR THE MONEY!

I'm an electrician and my Fluke tester took a crap so I figured instead of paying $28 for a new one I would check this one out. I work around 480/277 volts all day long and this little tester is working great! It also has an LED light on the front of it which has come in handy as well! For less than half the price of the Fluke you can't go wrong.

Pros
  • ‎2 AAA batteries required. (included)
Cons
  • May not be compatible with certain types of batteries

Handy and easy to use.

Glad I added this to my toolbox, but I'll still make sure circuit breakers are off before touching any AC voltage. Didn't work as well as I had hoped for troubleshooting Xmas light fixtures.

Pros
  • Nice tool nice price
Cons
  • May not fit comfortably in hand

Doesn't work well with 12 volt.

It doesn't signal 12 volt current in my landscape wires even though my multi meter shows me the voltage. In some cases, I see a little under 12, which I can understand. In others 12 or a little more and still no signal. Maybe I'll find the tester I lost one day.

Pros
  • Just what I needed. Confident using it.
Cons
  • Easily triggered by nearby sources of electromagnetic interference

Great tester on my review.

Satisfied with my purchase, it works great. Easy to use and I don't know why I waited so long to buy this type of electrical tester. Definitely recommend.

Pros
  • Quick Break Point Testing
Cons
  • May not detect low voltage levels accurately in the presence of interference

Bought this to troubleshoot Christmas tree lights

I originally bought this to troubleshoot Christmas tree lights, for which it does not work well. When it is brought near a strand of light it sounds off and lights up. You can not analyze just one light. It is too sensitive. What it does well; if you want to know if an outlet has power just touch the outside of an AC outlet. It can tell the difference between the hot and neutral. Light and sounds on the hot, no reaction on the neutral.I also bought the Fluke 1AC-A1-II, 90-1000V VoltAlert…

Pros
  • Satisfied with this purchase. everything works fine
Cons
  • May not be able to detect low voltages through thick insulation

Not as sensitive as the GB version

I had a GB circuit tester for years before it finally crapped out. I got this Neoteck tester because it was cheap and it seemed to be the same kind of device.Pros: (1) includes little flashlight, that's convenient for working in tight spots. (2) It uses AAA batteries instead of button cells. (3) Easy to use.Cons: (1) It's not as sensitive as my GB tester was -- you can put the little plastic tip right into the neutral slot of a live 120-V receptacle and this unit will NOT beep. I found that…

Pros
  • Testers
Cons
  • May not work on certain types of insulation materials

Good Enough for the DIY'er

I started getting more into home improvements and this thing helps! Of course, it's not high quality like you might need it to be if you were a professional. But it's great for doing things around the house. Loud beep too!Done two electrical projects so far and even though I switch the circuit breaker off, it's always nice to know there is no electricity flowing in the wires by using this to check them out. Can't be too safe when it comes to electricity.

Pros
  • Yes easy to use. Light is helpful in the dark.
Cons
  • Not recommended for use on live wires

Works like its supposed to

Right out of the box you get 2 AAA batteries included (this is huge), you get a quick reference guide, and the Voltage Pen. Pretty straight forward stuff. Works exactly how you expect it, the light is a pretty cool feature since you will be cutting power to certain areas and having a light to maneuver your way through the dark when checking if a receptacle is HOT or not. Overall this is a WIN WIN. Highly recommend this to anyone, Safety First. Worth every penny folks!

Pros
  • Para reparar electrodomesticos
Cons
  • Limited lifespan for battery life

one of the must have item if you work on electrical work.it detect hot wires good, but sometimes it also beeps when you bump this devices, so be alert!

Pros
  • Works perfectly
Cons
  • Not suitable for measuring resistance or continuity

Simple AC tester for my opinion

Simple and inexpensive. I used this for home electrical work such as rewiring a bathroom, adding a GFCI and replacing switches and outlets. I already knew the basic circuit breaker blueprint, but I have become tired of being electrocuted when either what I am told or what I assumed is wrong. This Neoteck tool helped me determine that I was working with two circuits and not one, thus protecting me from a possible shock. It also helped me determine that the previous owner wired a switch that I…

Pros
  • CE CAT III600V RoHS Certificate Voltage Tester
Cons
  • Display may be difficult to read for users with visual impairments

This is a must have.

Overall very happy with this. This is a must have for anyone doing electrical work. Would be good if when turning the spotlight on, would also turn the device on. Sometimes I think it's on but only the spotlight is on. Not a big deal but I have to check every time I use it. The power button lights up when on so just something I have to get used to.

Pros
  • Compact Design with Led Flashlight
Cons
  • Not suitable for use in noisy environments

Easy & fast best in my review

Quickly determine if voltage is present. Bought for troubleshooting Christmas lights . but finding myself reaching for it more and more.

Pros
  • sure helped to repair xmas lights
Cons
  • Does not work on DC voltage

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The voltage tester is excellent.

Especially nice that it uses AAA batteries and I like having an on off button and light. I replaced an old craftsman voltage tester that quit working and this works great as a replacement.

Pros
  • Great testing for pen.
Cons
  • No protective carrying case included

Initial hick-up but good device

The Neoteck non-contact voltage detector is a must-have device and a great value. I downgraded it only because it failed to turn on the second time I tried to us it. No power. Replaced the batteries that came with the unit - no response. I reinserted the original batteries and device has worked ever since. The switch seems okay. I am happy with the unit - just troubled that it might suddenly fail again without a known cause.

Pros
  • Voltage tester pen functions well. Hopefully it can last long while I am using it.
Cons
  • Limited features compared to other voltage testers on the market

My favorite voltage detector

This voltage detector is really nice, unlike the rest of them I have. It has a light that makes it easier to use. There is also a LED guage on it so you can see kinda how much voltage and my favorite feature, there is a on off switch so you don't have to hold the clip down for it to work. Also the unit and the LED light all have a auto shutoff.

Pros
  • Easy of use
Cons
  • Fragile construction

It is important knowing!

It is important to know! When you are messing with electrical wire, plugs, etc this little gadget is Very Important cause it checks HOT wires for you, I come from the old school whereas a handyman you think you can do just about anything with no knowledge of what you or trying to do, I have been close to getting shocked and I am 79 years old, so be "SAFE NOT SORRY"!

Pros
  • ‎Yes
Cons
  • Not recommended for use by inexperienced users
