adds crystal clear DD 5.1 surround sound to Windows 10

Although the instructions are useless, I got it up and running in an hour+ with a Windows 10 Home Premium laptop that only supports stereo sound would have. This notebook is not used in the target configuration. Destination is my desktop: - Video NAS (12TB, 1000+ MPG files with DD 5.1 audio streams) - Intel z8350 based system with WIndows 10 hme Premium ($105) - VLC VideoLan (unabridged version M$ , but original, with forced DD-5.1 and forced S/P-DIF enabled) - HDMI (video) + S/P-DIF assignedโ€ฆ

Poor PCB Design for Computer Components

I needed a cheap USB multi-channel audio device for a project, so I gave it a try. This worked somewhat immediately on both Windows and Linux. It is based on CMedia CM6206-LX. In short, it's a bad hardware/PCB design with wrong components, open bugs and it doesn't work much. Read the technical details below. I found a few issues with the PCB design that I needed to fix to make it work better: - The IC's analog power input is connected to a 3.3V LDO, which compares to the 4.5-5.5 -V-ARDDโ€ฆ

A great replacement for the missing Line-In in the new MacBook Pro!

My new MacBook cannot convert the headphone jack to line/mic like my old MacBook. (Thank you Apple for once again taking something so elegant and simple, eliminating it and creating a problem.) I love using my MacBook to convert all my old vinyl to mp3 for my iPhone and iPod . I've asked around and no one had an easy, inexpensive solution. All of the offers involved paying hundreds of dollars for items that far exceeded my needs. Then I found this article and it works great. Of course, I alsoโ€ฆ

Works great on Fedora Linux out of the box

I have an old 4.1 surround system that still sounds and works great, but my new PC doesn't have a built in surround or center channel. In a Fedora 33 workstation (and I'm guessing everything is newer!) Basically plug and play - I had to go to the sound panel and select speakers - CM106 Like Sound Device, after that I could switch between *Analog Surround 4.0 audio Select Out * Analog 5.0 Surround Out * 2.1 Analog Surround Out * 4.1 Analog Surround Out * 5.1 Analog Surround Out * 7.1 Analogโ€ฆ
