SmartCheck Electric Fence Tester Voltmeter Review

It's great when a tool is perfectly designed and does what it's supposed to do. This tester conforms to this standard. It's easy to read (in fact, the reading automatically brightens as the sunlight brightens), no ground wire is required (the tester simply touches a hot wire with the probe), and its shape easily fits a pocket or tool. bag/belt. This is the best instrument I have used to test electric fences. It's very sensitive and reminds you that the line is hot within 18 inches of the wire. This is pretty accurate, especially after testing its capabilities along with a voltmeter. It is ergonomic and comfortable to use. My only issue is that the capsule holding the display appears to be made out of glass. So a fall could break it, but I honestly don't think it will affect its function if the glass breaks. I just got this and I really hope I don't see what others break in a year. Like I said, if it breaks, I'll get a new one. I had trouble with the fence where it was farthest from the box. I've tried tracking the deterioration with other fence testers but haven't been able to track the issue. I even tried replacing the box thinking maybe the box wasn't strong enough. Update: I contacted the company after writing this review. Over the weekend I received a reply suggesting that a replacement be sent. I will update this as the process progresses but this kind of customer service is impressive. Also, a comment in response to another one-star review notes that the readings were everywhere.
