Good and quality product, but there are flaws.

The Sony E mount was introduced in 2022. The first cameras in the line were not full-frame Nex-3 and Nex-5 at all. And now, after almost ten years, it is still impossible to buy high-aperture optics with a variable focal length for a Sony camera with an APS-C sensor. At one time, I was attracted to the system by its clear advantages: low weight and dimensions, manufacturability for a moderate fee and, at the same time, uncompromising quality of photos and videos. Yes, the required lenses were…

Pros
  • Of the existing zoom lenses for Sony cameras with APS-C sensors, perhaps the best. The lens has a constant maximum aperture of f / 4, a fairly large range of focal lengths: "from mouse to bear", as hunters say. It is perfectly assembled, has pleasant (albeit uninformative) controls, a separate “rocker” for smooth zooming, gives a decent picture, fully revealing the potential of cropped matrices from Sony, and works almost silently.
Cons
  • The main drawback, not even of the Sony 18-105mm f/4 G, but of the system, is the complete absence of fast zooms for cameras with crop sensors. This lens is the lesser evil: unlike the Sony Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar T* E 16-70mm f/4, it has a larger range of focal lengths at the same constant f/4 aperture. Be prepared to constantly return to the 18mm position when using this lens. In a critical situation (reporting or shooting wild animals), this may require you to have additional preparation, and the smoothness of the zoom and the absence of any "mechanical" feedback will not increase your efficiency. You need to know this, you need to get used to it. You will have to foresee the possibility of an interesting plot, while preventing the camera from going into standby mode, which, together with the voracious lens motor, will adversely affect the battery charge. All this must be kept in mind when using this lens.

I'm impressed! Exactly the product deserves your attention.

Its pros: One of the coolest lenses I've worked with, and there are as many as 15 of them from Canons, Samyangs, Tokin, Carl Zeiss to Zenitars, Sony and Heliuses . Has some cons The biggest drawback is the distortion at the edges. Especially noticeable in close-ups.

Quality is top notch, happy with everything.

I recommend to buy. Pros: Great lens. I took it for video because of the ability to zoom from the stabilizer. And the absence of retractable parts (no need to change the balance on the stabilizer). Now I use it as the main lens and for photography too. I had a chance to shoot once in a tiny studio, where a fifty-kopeck piece was useless (even when I pressed myself against the wall). I put this lens and shot everything I wanted. Autofocus is fast. The sharpness is sufficient. Cons: A bit…

I am satisfied, the product fully corresponds to the description.

In general, a good lens, and so far the only super zoom with a constant aperture and good sharpness . Ideal for video, but if there was an option with a manual zoom ring, and not a motorized one, I would choose the 2nd one, since I photograph more than making a video. With its pros. I was pleased with the sharpness over the entire field (only the very very edges are soapy, but this is the norm) at all focal lengths with an open aperture! (Feelings after a whale plug 16-50 PZ and telephoto…

A really necessary purchase, glad I found this product.

He was taken for the video, where he fulfills himself at 100. Works in conjunction with 6300. If not for his flaws, he would be perfect. Even though he's excellent. Its pros: Motorized zoom, but advantages and its own small minus. Aperture for zoom 4 with such a focal length Soft pleasant picture and it really pleases the eye. Excellent stub Has cons: Bulky Each time when off / on it returns to its original position 18mm For reporting, af is slow, it just wildly spoils all the advantages of…

I like everything, the quality is good, the price is acceptable.

In general, for a task when there is little time and the situation changes quickly - an excellent tool. But do not count on the lens as a regular one. Its pros: Large focal range and constant aperture, smooth zoom - all this is very convenient for shooting video. Great for reporting when there is simply no time to change lenses. Pleasant to the touch, comes with a hood. Has some cons For artistic shooting is not suitable for any sauce. Count on this lens only in reporting conditions, given that

The product is really good, I'm glad I purchased it.

I'll try to shoot on the street, but if the pictures are worse than with the zoom on Canon, then for me it will be a reason for sadness, because it costs very decently. Has some pros For video, that's it. I took it specifically for video shooting - and it's really cool: the picture is clear, juicy (I shot it indoors in medium light in conjunction with the a6000). Its cons: For portrait shooting, I didn’t really like it, it seems to me that it’s not quite universal here. For example, on the same

A good product, I advise you to try it.

Lens distortion is corrected by the camera, after enabling the corresponding option in the menu. I doubted for a long time whether to take or not to take, fears after the purchase did not materialize, the glass is quite working, especially in the video. When parking, being placed on the table rattles, it's annoying. Everything is quiet in the hands. Has some pros Listed in the characteristics, the picture is good, convenient in every sense. Autofocus is normal. Has some cons It parks when the…

A practical product, nothing to complain about.

I shot it handheld using a digital zoom, in my case it is about 300 mm, taking into account the crop. What perfectly characterizes the work of the stabilizer - it is simply magnificent! Pros: Hi all! From my experience, I can say the following: - this is a lens for your money. - I confirm in every possible way that professionals (here I mean those who receive money for shooting) or photographers who are very demanding on the quality of the picture, this lens will satisfy only for shooting video

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Does not meet my expectations, it was not worth buying.

no lens movement is felt. since everything is on the motor, you constantly do not get into focus. If you want to move a little closer - he is silent. twist harder - how it jumps from 5 m to 1.2 m. autofocus is kind of crazy. you press the button, and he 2! thinks for a second. I stand in one place. to the object somewhere 3.5m, I press auto focus, then 1.5m, then 6.7m. How is that? used on a sony fs 5 camera. there is a focus mag button / such an electronic enlargement so that the zoom does not

Pros
  • Well, probably the size. Clear picture when in focus. strong.
Cons
  • everything on the motor. he's kind of ambiguous . incomprehensible .

Not a bad product, quite normal quality.

I have it on a sony a6000. Impressions are positive, Yes, lathers around the edges. I would never have noticed if I had not read and enlarged the picture on a monitor with a resolution of 2560x1600 on the forum. As for everyday use and a staff member, it's very good. Not an avid photographer, I shoot an average of 50-60 frames a week. Nature, landscape, portrait, everything can.

Pros
  • Convenient focal length. There is no "trunk" when magnified, everything is inside the case. The PZ (power zoom) lever is very handy when recording video. Not very hard as it seems. When recording video, the zoom at the end of the focal length turns into digital zoom up to x4. We get focal 18-420, but only when recording video.
Cons
  • When recording video after x2 magnification, the picture is not very good, as if you are shooting on an old phone.

Good product for me, no problems at all.

A convenient lens for a second camera is the a6400 paired with the A7III. Compact and lightweight zoom for close-ups, great for reportage video, ideal for weddings, except for aperture. At a banquet, either put a lantern or change the lens. Easy setup of the camera, lens and stabilizer can be taken smaller. A pleasant thing to use, for certain purposes an excellent option.

Pros
  • We get the range of focal lengths as on compacts Constant aperture Effective Stabilizer Light Does not lengthen when zooming or focusing, handy for gimbal or steadicam Supports Power Zoom, works with Zhiyun Crane2 (operated by handle) Autofocus is fast and quiet 70-105 mm - good bokeh, not the softest, but quite satisfied Price
Cons
  • Electricity takes some getting used to Parking at 18mm after sleeping or turning off the camera, as many here said Not the sharpest for photos

Revainrating 4 out of 5

I recommend to buy, the product is of high quality.

I use it for video and in general I am very pleased with the glass. Sharp enough, very good stabilizer. Of the shortcomings . after the camera falls asleep or turns it off and on, the lens returns the set focal length to 18mm, this is annoying. When shooting an interview or something like that where the camera is static, you have to remember the set focal length and set the frame again each time. It is very problematic to shoot objects large, in order to focus you have to keep the camera at a…

Pros
  • - very good stabilizer - range of focal lengths - compact, lightweight, stylish youth - good sharpness at 50mm+
Cons
  • - after switching the camera to offline mode or on / off, returns the focal length to 18mm - soapy in the lower range of focal lengths - not pretty highlights - does not focus at a close distance from the object, it is almost impossible to shoot large objects

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Expectations were not met, average quality.

I took for 25 thousand to Sjny Nex-6. Well, it would seem that everything should be cool, Sony after all . It turned out that this is another marketing ploy of the company, the quality of the pictures produced leaves much to be desired. Maybe the Chinese assembly is to blame, or maybe I was just unlucky, because I bought it through an online store, without checking it, by courier delivery. The constant front, then the back focus, more than half of the footage is soap, and even what is in focus…

Pros
  • convenience of focal lengths, Power Zoom, workmanship
Cons
  • inadequate color reproduction (blue color predominates), blurs the focus, as a result - a lot of soapy photos, even despite the presence of a "cool" stabilizer, very heavy and long

Excellent travel lens for Sony A6000 series cameras

I saw a few critical comments about this lens. I believe if you are a professional photographer a critical review can be helpful. I've taken over 5,000 shots with this lens on several trips around the US and Europe. I find the Sony A6000 lens to be an excellent all-round lens. It is well balanced and covers the range required for travel in a single lens. I don't experience the excessive distortion that some have reported. Two great qualities of the lens are f4 throughout the zoom range and the…

Pros
  • Electronics
Cons
  • Some small things

I bought this lens and a Zeiss 16-70mm to see which to use in place of the standard lens for the a6000 and I wasn't thrilled with this lens for stills but was amazed by his video capabilities. I ended up keeping both lenses, but which one I use depends on whether I'm shooting video or stills. First, the barrel distortion is out of control and needs to be fixed in post. When shooting in RAW, it's just impossible to get around this. . When shooting in JPEG format, the a6000 appears to correct…
