Great unit but vacuum feed is useless

A good simple solution for over complicated motorcycle ignition. For a gasified 4.2 by 1 barrel, the vacuum advance is too high. However, a further mechanical development is ideal. I tried adjusting the vacuum reservoir with an allen wrench but couldn't get the motor to run. Once I remove the vacuum feed it works like a top. If you had 2 barrels with a 4.0 head you might be able to try to control the advance but that wasn't possible for me. Good safe start, clean ignition. Great upgrade!

NOT PLUG AND PLAY, READ ME CAREFULLY!

There are two problems with using this distributor with a Jeep 4.2 or AMC 258 Straight 6: First, it has a hardened steel distributor gear - if you have a factory cam it will eat the gear on the cam. You'll have to use a factory bush gear or buy an aftermarket bronze gear and keep an eye on it. Secondly, the mechanical feed provides TOO BIG overall feed and you will rip apart the ring-shaped tracks with sparks. You need to adjust the limit screw and reduce the total mechanical feed by about 8โ€ฆ

Really good customer service and works great!

There were some issues, one of the terminals fell off when I connected the spark plug leads, reconnected and it still worked. I contacted the company for my concern that it would fall again and they responded immediately and sent me a new cap, quite impressive and with very good customer service. It was a very easy install with no issues and works great. WOW, talk about great customer service. That purchase fell through recently, Coil died. I checked all of my wiring and am not sure whatโ€ฆ

Super easy installation; "Big " performance boost!

1979 CJ7 258 - Removed the old distributor, wire, coil, ICM and replaced with this Red Cap A-Team HEI yesterday. It took all of 1 hour. Please Note: This distributor does not have a "seal" so lubricate the o-ring and cam gear prior to installation. I didn't change the old camshaft because pretty much everyone who has installed HEI claims that the camshaft only wears out on a V8. Of course changed the spark plug wires to HEI wires (you should do that) and changed the spark plugs to .044. I ran a

if i can do it Everybody can!

I finally got my dream car, a 1977 Jeep CJ7. I am not a mechanic and far from being mechanical. When I first opened the hood, I knew nothing about all the engine components. When one day my Jeep wouldn't start, I had no idea what a distributor was or what it did. But I bought the Jeep knowing that it was designed and built to be repaired on the race track - no fancy tools, no mechanic training. After trying to fix an old splitter for several months, I bought a HEI (almost all forums recommended
