Works, but nothing special

Like other reviewers, I didn't like what I said: - It was expensive and took up unnecessary desk space Hold down a key, like Backspace. - If you have a USB mouse AND keyboard, you cannot install two USB->PS/2 converters side by side. You will either need a short PS/2 extension cable to take the converter out of the KVM case, or buy a USB keyboard with a USB connector. Year. But it works, and that's the main thing, so if you haven't seen anything better then it will do its job.

Nice though. . . - External components

I've been using this KVM switch for a few months now and it has great features especially the mic and audio output switching. However, he has an unpleasant habit. Sometimes he just forgets what it is and what it's related to. During this time, one of the link lights will flash, but none of the four buttons to select either machine will work, and any machines booted up during this time will not "see" the keyboard or mouse. I don't have a standard way to fix it, but if you happen to disconnectโ€ฆ

When they said SOHO they really meant it

My first impression of the Belkin OmniView SOHO Series 4 Port KVM Switch was that it was HUGE! Futuristic design takes up extra space for a KVM switch with only 4 ports. However, it looks COOL enough to have on your desk, but the problem is that it quickly becomes uncool when you plug four sets of cables into the device. The cable management cover (which only hides the cables) does not fit back onto the device as there are 4 sets of cables protruding from the device. As with other browsers, Iโ€ฆ

Doesn't work with Linux!

I have an old Omnicube to which I have connected two Linux boxes, a Solaris box and a Windows box. I needed another KVM and liked the audio component of this unit. I've also had good results with my old Omnicube, so I went with this one. Unfortunately, this device does not work properly with Linux! With a box of RH Linux and a box of Windows, everything is fine; However, as soon as you add a second Linux box to this KVM, the mouse fails. I've tried switching mice, switching ports, switchingโ€ฆ

2 new appliances break within 30 days - lemons or bad food?

My job requires a KVM switch for QA purposes to test different OS/browser combinations. When setting up the lab, I chose Belkin after researching various switches. I'm setting up a lab with a Mac G4, Mac mini, NC6000 laptop, and HP DC5100 minitower. I am using an HP provided keyboard and mouse and a ViewSonic 19 LCD flat panel. The first KVM worked fine for 30 days. At this point the mouse started behaving erratically, shortly after that the switch only worked in slot #1 (laptop). I ordered aโ€ฆ

Really frustrating! on KVM switches

Like the '54 XK120, this thing is beautifully designed and completely unreliable. It randomly loses communication with my Intellimouse and my MS-USB keyboard. 30-90 seconds will pass and then it will reconnect, sometimes only to disconnect within a few seconds, sometimes it will stay connected for half an hour at a time. Oddly enough, it appears to support connecting to a monitor, albeit often as a regular display rather than a Samsung flat panel. I used IOGear's two-port KVM successfully until

It's ok if you only need 2 ports.

Purchased for use with 3 computers. However, Belkin does not sell this product at a LOW price. It costs at least $30 for one. And if you use different cables, it's REALLY a mess. Also the worst problem is that it says it can support 4 computers but you can only put the case on if you only use 2. I emailed Belkin and they said they use the same 2 port case as is. do for 4 ports. So it looks really messy. The item itself works fine but I spent the extra money to have the case cover all the uglyโ€ฆ

This is normal: External components

I agree with the other reviewer. So securing them might help other people looking for a KVM switch. I originally bought 2 ports of Belkin Soho from Best Buy (err. cost [amt]). So you can imagine my joy when I found 4 ports for less money. Ah. Well I like the look. Unfortunately, I think the 2-port had better audio quality and much better cable management. All in all, if I had my way I wouldn't buy 3 units and settle for a 2 port, much better performance from Belkin. However, I'm, as the sayingโ€ฆ
