Low cost, unstable performance, occasionally causes system problems

Easy to install and recognize all my drives (for a while) -Win 10 64-bit system Bought 09/2020 - worked fine up to 3/ 2021, although I had to reconfigure my entire system to zero this controller - replaced it with an old Highpoint Rocket Raid card to get my system back to normal with no random issues. - a pity

Pros
  • Worth the money
Cons
  • Only available in white

Plug and Play for Linux and FreeBSD

This SATA to PCIe converter card worked both with a Debian Buster RAID6 array and with an average throughput of 150 Mbit/s (4 disks) during the Data migration for 4 days to set up RaidZ on FreeBSS13.0-Current. (I bought 2 boards) The board supported an average speed of 500Mbps when moving 500GB from the SSD. During all three migrations, the heatsink temperature never exceeded 89 degrees Fahrenheit, the ambient temperature was 70 degrees, and the opposite side of the board itself was 85 degrees.

Pros
  • There's something to it
Cons
  • Minor issues

Outstanding compatibility

This card does not require any special drivers and works out of the box. It is also PCIE 3.0 x2, which means that with 2 lanes, it can provide high transmission speed for all 5 ports. Ideal for home NAS and also has low power consumption and low heat dissipation.

Pros
  • understandable even for the old
Cons
  • poorly designed

Legal 4x PCIe SATA controller.

In a RAID1 array of two Seagate Barracuda 2TB drives on a legacy Athlon micro ATX:dd if=/dev/zero of=test.txt bs=1G count=22+0 writes in2 +0 writes copied to output 2147483648 bytes (2.1GB, 2.0GB), 13.3205s, 161MB/s. Works great as a controller, works for about 2 months, no problems.

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • Some weaknesses

installed with Ubuntu LTS, no driver issues

I wanted 5 more SATA ports to expand my btrfs filesystem for more file storage. I installed 8TB Western Digital drives with no problems. it works with Ubuntu 18.04 without installing drivers. This is one of the few cards with 5 SATA ports based on the JMB585 chipset.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • No insurance

Works great on Win10

I installed this card in the PCIE slot and restarted the computer; it was automatically recognized by Windows after 3-4 minutes. Drivers are not required. It's expensive compared to other cards, but it works. Background: I recently upgraded to an SSD but still wanted to use my 4 year old Toshiba hard drive to store large files. This card helped because my motherboard only has two SATA ports. I like the speed of my SSD, but I still like the economical HDD storage. I have a 250GB SSD in my…

Pros
  • Looks good
Cons
  • Not as good as advertised

Works great out of the box.

I had endless problems with the controller cards, it was easy compared to them. I think the problem was having two chips and then an intermediary on the other cards. Since everything is on the same chip I find it much easier for the system to interact with it. I couldn't use all six hard drives I planned, but it worked right away. Very happy with the purchase!

Pros
  • Large selection
Cons
  • Quality

The card had problems from the start, and when it was used, more problems arose, and after 3+ weeks of use, the card does not start in the bios and is not created. Tried several different machines and operating systems, Win 10 Pro and Win 8.1 Pro and Linux, the card doesn't work at all. Was the controller chip heatsink very hot to begin with? The air supply was more than sufficient. The card was not plug and play to begin with and the problems got worse over time and now the card is just dead…

Pros
  • One year trial period
Cons
  • sad packaging
