Finally a compatible case!

It worked PERFECTLY! It fitted and worked right away with my Samsung 950 PRO Series - 512GB PCIe NVMe - Internal M.2 SSD (MZ-V5P512BW) that I bought from Revain. I've searched everywhere to find a USB enclosure for my replacement SSD after replacing my Dell XPS 13 with a larger one. So far I haven't been able to find a USB enclosure that would fit an M.2 NVMe SSD with an "M" key. Every other USB case I've found fits either the "B" key or the "B+M" key. To be clear, this case fits the "M" keyโ€ฆ

Great build quality, please make more!

Screenshots speak for themselves. I've used this with a Thunderbolt 3 port on a Dell XPS13 (2019), but I expect the same results from anyone using USB-C/USB3 Gen2. If you're not 100% sure what all this means, do your homework to make sure your machine meets these standards. Otherwise you may not get the expected data transfer rate. The build quality of this case is excellent. I found this by accident in a tech news article and exhausted it. Nobody seems to stock them, which is a shame. I've had

Terrible. DANGEROUSLY HOT. DESTROY MY $550 SAMSUNG drive! STAY AWAY!

I USED THIS AND MY SAMSUNG EVO 970 2TB DRIVE I PAID $550 FOR. 80% HEARD EVERYTHING ON THE 900GB FILE TRANSFER. WHEN I TAKEN THIS CASE TO CHECK THE CONNECTION, IT BURNED MY STRONG POWERFUL MODULE, I COME TO POUR COLD WATER ON IT AND HAVE A BUBBLE! THE INTERNAL DRIVE HAS MELted NEAR THE CONNECTOR. THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED TO ME WITH ANY OTHER POWER BODY. IT GOT MY $550 DRIVE. PLEASE KEEP AWAY FROM THIS PRODUCT. IT COULD START A FIRE. I LOST DRIVE FOR $550 AND WITH BAD MILK!

Speed โ€‹โ€‹. about the same as others I've used.

I have 2 more types of these discs. Everyone uses this J micron chipset. When unboxed and used for the first time, it gets extra points for its nice clean design, unique bracket and rubber bushing for NVME drive mounting. Standard USB 2.0 cable. So all in all a recommendable article. If you want to use this to change or update a single m.2 nvme on a system (laptop) etc. the only way I've found is to image it in say Acronis by typing in Boot your Windows PE environment. .Of course, you can useโ€ฆ

Fine Case - Universal NVMe Case Issues

A special review of the Sabrent NVMe Case revealed strange compatibility issues when copying files using USB-C. This disc will suffer the same fate. Using the case's USB-C cable from a PC, copying a file to NVMe is fast, then stops/starts and finally fails about halfway through the download. Switch to the included USB-A 3.1 cable and achieve file transfer speeds of around 350 Mbps. Strange right? This problem only occurs on the PC! I formatted my NVMe to ExFat for Mac OS and Windowsโ€ฆ

High performance, low price

When I saw this in Tech News today, I couldn't quite believe it was actually an NVMe case; it costs like an SSD enclosure. Comparable suitcases from other suppliers currently cost several hundred euros per suitcase alone. I'm happy to report that this is indeed an NVMe case and it's fast. Not as fast as the internal drives in my Dell Precision 7720 connected directly to the PCIe bus, but still fast enough for video editing. Tonight's test with Samsung PM961 OEM 1TB drives in both the case andโ€ฆ

Plug and Play - Computer Accessories and Peripherals

Plug and Play, works great and pretty fast. A small problem: the button to open the case is very delicate and opens with very little pressure, if you carry it in your pocket it will most likely open by itself. To prevent this you can use masking tape.

Pros
  • Great Design
Cons
  • There are some nuances

Killed my 970 Evo 500GB. (CENSORED FEBRUARY 2021)

Edit: Now 5 stars. The new chipset in this package allows it to operate without excessive heat generation from the previous chipset. My new case with a new chipset works great. Very beautiful body. Finally what I'm sure was originally intended. With a $10 discount, I can't give this review less than 5 stars, but I'm leaving one star to keep this review visible. And shame on Amzn for deleting comments on customer reviews, which were once an extremely valuable tool for both sellers and buyersโ€ฆ

I wish I had had one like this a year ago. Now I have 2.

Summary: Well designed and very easy to use. I bought two of these for cloning work. I use mine with Samsung 9xx and Crucial P1 SSDs with no problems. I have a lot of M.2 SSDs now, but some of my motherboards only have an M.2 connector. This USB device makes it much easier to move data around during an SSD upgrade. It's more important to me that it works at all than having a transfer rate of 10 Gbps. USB3.x is good, but USB2 is fine for most file transfer projects. They get a little warm, butโ€ฆ

EDIT: I'm changing my rating from negative to positive because Pluggable has switched from the problematic JMC583 chip to the RTL9210 in new adapters! Be sure to check out the details on the Pluggable product page. I now have a Realtek RTL9210 adapter and it works great in all cases where jmicron adapters fail. Buy an adapter based on RTL9210! The rest of my old review is below and was for the JMicron version of this adapter. None of this works! I have purchased three of these USB NVME adapters
