Quality product

Our home fireplace has a heater. The device is an insert that pumps air through a thermobox and heats the room and house. There was a leak, which also caused smoke to enter the room. On the advice of a chimney sweep I bought this product and it sealed all the leaks between the metal liner and the stone surfaces, this prevented smoke from escaping. It was very easy to spread without leaving a mess, so the finished product looked like the Heat-Oater was made specifically for it!

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Socket required

So far so good

I have an old wood stove that had a few cracks that needed repairing as it was sucking in air. I used this to secure them in place with a spatula, wiped off the excess with a sponge (like joint compound) and moments later fired up the oven and slowly let it rise to 500 degrees as directed. I haven't had any re-cracks after about a month, but I've had some chipping/flaking from excess cement that seems harmless so far. The color when dry is a lovely matte black to match our (oven/grill stained)…

Pros
  • Good thing
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something

Great for my purposes!

I made my own mantel/insert with Broan apron in stainless steel. Well, things are pretty brittle (but that felt good to me as they were easier to bend), so I also bought a ceramic sheet to add rigidity and used that cement to glue them together. Well it wasn't easy! The cement is very thick and would probably work on stainless steel, but it would dry out immediately if touched on fiberboard (even after spraying the board with water). To mitigate this I used two buckets: in one I mixed some…

Pros
  • Absolute Legend
Cons
  • Great Price
