Great way to upgrade your 2015 13 " MacBook Pro SSD for a great price

Worked great with a $300 Toshiba XG3 1TB drive found on eBay in my 2015 13" MacBook Pro (MacOS High Sierra 10.13.4). All I had to do was remove the Apple drive, insert this Toshiba adapter and connect my time machine's backup drive via USB I booted from a backup disk and restored to Toshiba with no problems. Sleep still works. Battery life has been reduced by at least 2 hours, but it's worth it. I fixed the place where the drive connects to the adapter is protected with Kapton tape. Also, make…

  • Everything is great!

MARVELOUS! - Hard Drive Accessories

2017 MacBook Air 13 (Core i5 128GB) I installed "ADATA SX8200 480GB NVMe SSD" with this adapter. My typing speed has more than doubled! It used to be 650Mbps with the standard 128GB drive, now I'm getting over 1.3Gbps! The reading speed is 1.5 Gbit/s. Waking up from sleep is so fast it wakes up the laptop before it even connects to my WiFi network! It's insanely fast! So YES, it WORKS with NVMe SSDs and supports waking from sleep smoothly!:::STEPS:::* Install the latest update (I had 10.14…

Approved. Works in 2017 21.5 " iMac (with SSD slot on Logic Board)

Decided to try this on my 2017 21.5" iMac as I disassembled it to still upgrade your RAM. Taking apart an iMac was very tedious, but I followed the instructions I found online and took my time. The adapter and drive fit my motherboard perfectly. I was able to install macOS Mojave using the USB installer. I used a 2TB Samsung 970 Evo m.2 SSD. I'm now getting consistent read and write speeds of around 2500MB/s. That being said, this will NOT work on a base 21.5" iMac as that version does not have

I'm using this on an early 2015 MacBook with .

I'm using this in an early 2015 MacBook with a 500GB Samsung EVO 970 NVME SSD. You must follow the instructions below for the hard drive to be found and working. Make sure to upgrade to High Sierra on the old drive to install newer firmware capable of working with NVME.2. Make a full backup on TimeMachine.3. Build the High Sierra installer on a bootable USB.4. Open up the MacBook and disconnect the battery while unplugging the drive, making sure both the adapter and the new SSD are secure…

Great way to expand storage in 2015 MBP. but a few caveats.

I use this adapter with an early 2015 Macbook Pro 13" Retina. This review is written 4 hours after installation. I originally had an Evo Plus 970 and don't understand Since the specific SSD isn't supported, I couldn't even partition the drive without panicking and kernel crashes, so I returned the Evo970+ and got a 512GB Patriot Scorch instead, which was half the price. APFS BlackMagic gives me a read and write speed of around 650 -700 MB/s It's not very fast compared to some of the best SSDs…

Pros
  • New to my collection
Cons
  • Newer model might be selected

Working with MBA 2013/1TB 970 EVO/Mojave 10.14.1

. First, let me say that I originally used the smaller Sintech adapter and was never able to solve the sleep/wake/crash issue. As a last resort after spending too much time reading the forums I bought this. Here's what I did. 1.) My drive was already formatted to APFS and MBA was upgraded to Mojave 10.14.2) I created a bootable Mojave 10.14.1.3 installation USB stick) I swapped the adapters and did an SMC reset with the unplugged Battery cable routed. (while I was there) 4.) Downloaded Disk…

Works well. definitely pros and cons to consider

So I bought this to upgrade the SSD in my late 2013 15" MacBook Pro. I wanted both a faster drive and more capacity. I went for Chose this model because I read reviews on other sites that said this model was superior to other adapters that I knew from experience can cause intermittent sleep and boot problems.Excellent drive matching that others sometimes lack. It offers better compatibility than other adapters I've used and causes far fewer power saving and boot issues, but it's by no means…

Pros
  • Always liked
Cons
  • I won't say anything

Works great in MBP 2015 (no crashes or side effects)

I paired this $16 Sintech card adapter with a $215 TopMore 2TB SSD. and wow, the improved performance results are impressive. No crashes or side effects of any kind. The installation process was simple: 1. Create an installation USB drive from the latest version of MacOS2. Manual backup of the original SSD via Time Machine3. Shutdown4. Remove the bottom tray with the T5/bit5 driver. Disconnect the battery from the logic board6. Remove original SSD* with T5/bit7 driver. Insert the new SSD into…
