I had to retire my SMC 7004 router (which had a parallel port) because it couldn't communicate with my new Cisco Wi-Fi router. So this device was a great replacement and after a bit of a struggle I'm happy to report that it works. My printer, the HP Laserjet 2420, is my workhorse for reliable, fast two-sided printing. Basic preparation steps: 1. Check out the installation CD - the PDF manual on the CD is pretty solid. What you get (printed booklet) that comes in the box is a bit useless.2. This

Excellent way to make a parallel printer available on a network

For years our HP 2300 laser printer has been connected to a single computer via a USB cable . Other computers could print from it as long as the computer was powered on and connected to the network. Once the computer was turned off, the printer was unavailable to other computer users in our home. Fortunately, the parallel port is also located on the printer behind the access panel.
