Bought this for my kids for Christmas a year ago. Never open to see. When they finally opened it up, we found that the switch blade used to turn on the light was installed upside down in the "U" bracket. The point of contact was up, so when the mirror side was up, the light turned on down. It was well past the return deadline so I figured for the price it wasn't the worst. I've optimized the work around. But now my kids have used it about 3 times and the U shaped bracket broke at the ball joint

Very cheaply made. It's very difficult to focus on anything. Difficult to get enough light. I am a trained professional microscopist and it took me at least 10 minutes to see one of the samples sent in. I finally have my focus, but the focus controls are so loose that as soon as you release them, the stage goes down an inch and the subject is badly out of focus again. Based on the reviews left I expected more but was disappointed. I was very excited about being 30 when I remembered how awesome it was to see things under a microscope like I did in high school, but sadly it was disappointing.
