Direct fit Subaru replacement

I replaced a leaking oil separator with this one and it fitted perfectly. I used gray Permatex 82194 and the cage comes with new screws.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • unreliable

It works well for spare parts

It works well. My 1997 Legacy's OEM oil separator was leaking badly. I recommend using a small Ultra Black silicone sealant when installing a new oil separator. There are no oil leaks. Now happy.

Pros
  • Price
Cons
  • Some small things

Ideal for changing caps

Good replacement part. The oil separator cover on my 1998 Subaru Impreza 2.2L was plastic and this was a known problem with these engines. Replacing it with a metal one was fairly easy - when the gearbox failed. Came with new screws, which is very satisfied.

Pros
  • Excellent design
Cons
  • Very expensive

Fitted in my 2001 Subaru Legacy Outback. Application .

This fits my 2001 Subaru Legacy Outback. The application data does not indicate that it is suitable for this car, but I confirm that it is suitable. This was the 2.5 liter engine I was dealing with when I contacted the doorman to tell him his application data doesn't cover all vehicles that will fit and have never heard of them.

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • I have nothing I don't like, everything is fine

fits perfectly on 01 Subie Forester EJ25 SOHC!

Replaced a leaking old aluminum cover on a 2001 Subaru Forester EJ25 SOHC. The old plate wasn't crappy plastic but it still leaked and I didn't want to accidentally install a warped plate so I installed this oil separator cover for an OEM replacement when we pulled the engine out to rebuild and replace the clutch. Perfect fit and no leakage!

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Hard to see

Not original but very similar in material

Haven't installed it yet. However, please note that this is not a reusable item. A liter every 600 miles. Now I have to remove the transmission but all the gaskets are filled with fluid and exhaust pipe seals just to replace this $21 item. When I originally checked I didn't see that option. I think it was worth it!

Pros
  • Several competitors
Cons
  • Slightly torn

Don't order that! Get the OEM version!

For the integrity of your engine, do not order this item. It was professionally installed on my 1998 Subaru Forester (2.5L DOHC) and so far has leaked immediately and heavily. Immediately after installing it I lost about a quart of oil for 50 miles on the road. Luckily I noticed the problem in time and after adding 7 liters of oil over a distance of about 330 miles I returned to the shop to fix the problem.

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • I vaguely remember

Great replacement for original quality for SCREWS!

Installed at 96 EJ22 with partial overhaul (bearings, rings and cylinder liner are OK). It replaced a crappy plastic lid with a bad gasket. Came with screws, thread lock on it. (Red) I used Ultra Gray Sealant. Leaks are not yet visible. Decided to follow the design and replace the bolts on my oil pan when rebuilding (as I couldn't get a 10mm on 3 bolts and the Phillips head would come loose). So now I have a hex bolt for easy installation and removal while still in the car. In the event of a…

Works great Leakage stopped

Works great, stopped the leak, but be careful when installing, use a lot of silicone gasket with good oil resistance, e.g. I made this mistake by rubbing a thin layer on the block and cap like I usually do when using the GUP and I had to pull the motor again. It's a good idea to take out the spark plugs, get a drill and a socket, spin the engine away from the crankshaft pulley for a few minutes and make sure there is no oil leakage. Pulling the engine out twice is a lot of work. I know I was…
