Not for testing Christmas lights.

I bought this product to test Christmas lights. I've been trying to find bad money in the string of lights for several hours and haven't found it. It easily detects electrical current, but it's too sensitive for checking Christmas lights, even at lower settings.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Good but not great

Good and easy to use

Does what it's supposed to do, although I rarely find reason to use it. Most of my measurements are DC, but if you want to test an electric heater, AC window unit, or computer for current draw, you'll need this (and a multimeter).

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • Replacement availability

Excellent electrical know-how.

This is a great addition to my meter clip. Allows me to see what normal devices are drawing without making changes to the wiring. Simply disconnect your device, connect this device and connect your device to the line splitter, then use the amplifier probe device to check the current drawn.

Pros
  • An absolute legend
Cons
  • A few little things

Very good, seemingly accurate product.

I had a cheaper version of this that came with my original Klein brand meter. This Dawson was on sale so I decided to upgrade. Very good, seems to be a thinner device, very satisfied. I'm not sure, but it seems more accurate. PS I like being able to read the volts coming out of the socket through the device instead of plugging sensors into the socket. More comfortable, feels safer.

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Hard to say

Good Choice for Splitter

I had a hard time choosing a splitter as multiple brands sell the same item. For some reason I chose this one. probably because of the price ;) I used it (along with the clamp meter) to check the current usage of the devices in my house. It worked as expected. Of course, this is a very simple device - male/female plugs connected by a wire wrapped around loops in a plastic sheath. But it's well built, because after dozens of plugging and unplugging operations, it looks just as new.

  • Great Design
Cons
  • Volume

A great tool that every technician and RV owner should have.

This is an inexpensive power meter that is essential for my RV work. I use it to check the current draw of various 120V appliances in an RV. With the help of my KillOWatt counter and this I can get an accurate picture of current draws. This device has a faster response time than KillOwatt, so I can use it to detect short spikes in power usage, e.g. B. when starting a large engine. It's even big enough for my old school clip to work on the gauge. My old meter has a bandwidth of 100kHz so…

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes

  • Useless features

Makes it very easy to measure current with a current clamp

I wanted to check the current of several electrical appliances in the house including the fridge, microwave and toaster oven. By plugging this in-line splitter between the wall outlet and the device, I was able to easily measure the current with my clamp-on ammeters without having to cut or modify the wires in any way. The 1x loop is the main loop I use as my meter has a wide current range (1mA to 100A) and makes direct measurements easy, but the 10x loop comes in handy if you have a meter that

Excellent method for testing current in household appliances

This is a great method for testing current in household appliances (measuring the current in amperes). The device I bought works perfectly and the tested cables are labeled correctly. However, the product photo that accompanies the product description is a bit odd. The "L" or "Line" side and the "N" or "Neutral" side are marked as wrong side. Also, the photo shows that the splitter is designed for MAX. 250V / 15A (which it is) and underneath it says it's rated at 600V CAT III. CAT III/600V…
