Good for Primetime TV Shows

Take control of your TV. Got it mainly for voice control in prime time TV shows and movies. Works well on prime time TV, worse on movies as most new movies aren't compatible. Using Clearplay DVD and VidAngel streaming for movies with some success but they don't cover all new movies. I would love to see TV Guardian develop a box that allows up to four HDTV inputs.

Pros
  • Absolutely Amazing!
Cons
  • Has been corrupted

Very Helpful: TV & Video

I don't understand why more parents aren't looking for something like TV Guardian. Make sure your cable/satellite box has an analogue/RCA connection. Now every movie available through our cable company can be watched without profanity, that's great! Remember that only speech will be disabled, not visual content. With the whole family spending so much time at home due to the pandemic, it's certainly nice to be able to let the kids watch more films, which we certainly wouldn't have let watch…

Outdated technology.

Subtitle component cable required. My DIRECTV and Apple TV cannot connect to it. My Blu-ray (bought in 2011) connects, but it doesn't seem to work with Blue Ray or about half the DVDs released since 2009. Even though it works with all my components, I can only connect two components to it. Both components come from the TV Guardian via a single output, making connection to a home theater system cumbersome. If you're selling this stuff in 2018, make sure you're not relying on 2006 technology.

A great way to watch swear word shows

A great way to watch some of today's programs that contain profanity without losing the point of the show. These shows can be played when children or people don't want to hear swear words. When using subtitles, a sentence using obscene language is displayed and an acceptable word is put in its place. It took a phone call to the company to get help with the installation but they were very nice and knowledgeable. I also had to buy a separate cable to install it. The cord offered for purchase must

Need a Blu-ray player with composite output

I've always liked TV Guardian for taking the dirty language out of an otherwise great movie. However, as TVs became more technologically advanced, tv Guardian struggled to keep up with them. I would like to say that they fixed the problem with this device as it is at least HDMI compatible but unfortunately requires composite video/audio output from the filtered device. Have you ever tried to find a Blu-ray player with composite video output? It seems almost impossible to me. I have 2500 DVDs…

LOVE IT and can't live without it

We've had some sort of rogue filter for years and now can't live without it after our previous devices stopped working. In our opinion, this model is the best of TVG. I bought a smaller unit that was extremely difficult to set up and only lasted about a week, but in TVG's defense I didn't call them to find out what the problem was. On the other hand, this model is easy to set up, captures most profanity well (with the rapid evolution of TV technology, don't expect TVG to catch everything…

Works as advertised

The problem is not so much with the product as it is with the condition. This is the second device I've received with the sprayed stuff on. The first one I ordered even had a dent on the top but I sent it back. Some cords look like they've been used before, as does the TV's security box. The bag with the remote control has been opened and I even have the instruction manual for the DVD player in the box! I just have a feeling that when you're paying that kind of money for what appears to be a…

Great product at a great price

Great product at a great price. This is actually the second 501 we have purchased and the fourth TV Guardian unit. 501 is HDMI and it works very well. We have an AT&T U-Verse and it works great. If you've never used TV Guardian, we highly recommend it. There's enough junk in there to keep you out of your house. Unfortunately, we've seen a few bad-worded commercials lately, and these commercials aren't CCed, so unfortunately this doesn't block them. TV Guardian requires CC (Closed Captioning) to

My 3rd Gen TVG

This is my 3rd TVG. I have had three generations. The first generation was the best, but it didn't have high definition capability. The TVG LT generation was intended to close the gap with HD, but it was a very poor replacement. I was hesitant to buy the HD model due to the LT model's failure, but I'm glad I did. Is it overpriced? Yes. However, with all the junk on TV, we need to support the companies that are actually trying to fight it. My children got a Christmas bonus and they wanted to buy
