Decentraland is a virtual reality platform, built on Ethereum. On the platform, you can explore the virtual areas and spaces, and also create your own 3D-reality via the VR headset (browser-friendly).
Everything you create on the platform is considered to be hashed blockchain-asset and can be accessed only by the creator (or holder of the private keys). And that feature is HUGE because blockchain is actually CAN provide a better ownership and it's only a matter of time when this becomes mainstream.
Pros
- What a like most of all is the freedom of action: platform users can freely create and modify 3D-reality, and all modifications are written to the Ethereum smart contract, which makes created content more secure. And there's also a lot of opportunities: development of applications, games, creation objects, loading of textures, control of physics - all this is possible thanks to the unique software platform code. And yes, it's decentralized.
Cons
- The project could be developed a little faster, although it is not easy to run a cutting edge company especially when this market is still developing and rely much on the R&D.
