It's a no premine coin published on Dec 2013. It has seen a constant grow in terms of developments and community. Emercoin is based on Namecoin and PPCoin. Emrcoin has an hybrid proof of stake (verify blocks) and proof of work (block creation). I like this project for its developments and community that are silently improving the emercoin eco system
