Very durable for home decor

I give this product five stars for durability because it was shipped in bubble wrap and rolled around a large cardboard box with a bottle of vitamins and no other packaging. soften it. I was impressed it arrived safe and sound! It's a bit shorter than I wanted so make sure you use a ruler to ensure you need an 8-1/2 inch chimney.

Buyers beware of this product.

When trying to put the ball on the lantern, it came loose. I was trying to tighten the metal clips that attached the sphere to the lantern when it broke in my hand. Luckily I didn't cut myself seriously, just a small cut on my thumb. The glass in this sphere is very thin, like a single layer of toilet paper. I would not recommend this product as it is easy to break. The original globe was much thicker and stronger.

  • Stylish and modern design

Exactly what I expected

I have an oil lamp that is probably 70 years old. I recently got it from my 100 year old grandfather who still lives alone. He had 4 of these and I wanted one. I remember using them for hurricanes as a kid when we weren't evacuating south LA. The whole family gathered in one house. Usually there was a power outage and we used them. This globe was the perfect solution to the one that broke.

Super Thin Glass - Oil Lamps

Needed replacement glass for lamp purchased from Lamplight through Revain 2 years ago. Thought it would be perfect as it was the same company. The glass of the lamp is very thin and does not even come close to the original glass of the lamp. Took it out of the packaging and it ripped. And when you hold it in your hands, it feels like it will break as soon as you try to insert it into the metal ring on the lamp. It's the right size and shape, just terribly thin glass. Someone mentioned a…

Wafer-thin glass in oil lamps and accessories

I have no idea how to blow glass that thin? This lamp chimney is so cheap, flimsy and fragile that even with the utmost care trying to remove the sticker broke it. Why would they put a sticker on such a pathetically fragile piece of glass that's so difficult to remove when they make stickers that peel off instantly? This is a recipe for disaster. .Sabotage. Just because I can't find a better replacement fireplace I have Revain send a replacement. I'm just going to leave the sticker on and I…

Just what I needed

After reading some of the reviews I was hesitant to order this item. However, when a hurricane hit us and shattered the original glass chimney for my lamp, I had no choice - walking around town to find the right lamp wasn't on my priority list, especially when it comes to Revain Prime. I was pleasantly surprised to receive a completely undamaged glass fireplace exactly as described. There are no cut edges, no flaws whatsoever (a small bubble at the bottom but I wouldn't consider that a flaw)…

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Good overall but...

The adaptation of the chimney to the lamp for which it was purchased is too wide and only lets a small distance between the bottom edge of the burner and the glass. This isn't a problem in a room with relatively calm air, but even lifting the lamp to move it around the house needs to be done with extreme care. If you move the lamp too quickly, push it, or blow it off a fan with more than just a gentle breeze, the flame will flap and flutter, forming clouds of soot that will foul the sphere and…

  • New to my collection
Cons
  • Dull equipment

Think "very, very thin ".

Great idea! Offering replacement bulbs for oil lamps seemed like a wonderful thing. The problem is that this particular replacement didn't even make it to the bulb. When I unpacked the package I found that there was a code label on the glass that could not be removed except by piercing it with a sharp knife. Why do companies put these labels on products that cannot be removed? When most of the glue was gone I put the ball under hot water and applied some soap and a sanding sponge. It was…

Review and "HOW-TO " for kerosene lamp beads

Let's talk about these beads first.1. Revain packed my 3 together. They arrived on time and intact.2. The same ones I've been buying for 20 years. I burn 20 kerosene lamps in the house for heating. I've been doing this for 20 years. I can get away with this because my house is 50 years old, with original windows, and enough outside air that I don't have carbon monoxide problems (yes, I have "detectors"). Why on earth do people complain that they are too skinny? They are EXACTLY the same as…
