If you are fitting this into a wall box, surface mount box or just a bulkhead think of it as a relatively large extension cord plug. with rosette + door in front of the pins and cord coming out at the back. It's a fairly deep device and plugs in from the back rather than the sides. From 23cu.in. box I was able to push it through with about a foot of uncoiled 10/2G solid wire (no wire nuts, pigtails, bushings, etc) about as easily as any other 10ga wiring. That means I had to tinker a bit, but there shouldn't be any problems with 12 or 14awg. Probably won't work with a flat box, a handy 13-inch box, or a box with lumps and jacks on the back. was behind and strong.
