Use a deep box. Best in Electrical Engineering

If you are fitting this into a wall box, surface mount box or just a bulkhead think of it as a relatively large extension cord plug. with rosette + door in front of the pins and cord coming out at the back. It's a fairly deep device and plugs in from the back rather than the sides. From 23cu.in. box I was able to push it through with about a foot of uncoiled 10/2G solid wire (no wire nuts, pigtails, bushings, etc) about as easily as any other 10ga wiring. OK product. It works out.

I struggled with this thing for 2 hours today to get it in the recommended box. First the wire locking screws will be closed, so you need to turn counter clockwise carefully. I ripped off a screw on the first one. My fault for not taking a closer look at the tightening process. But the real problem was constantly shortening the cables going into the box because the connector was taking up an insane amount of space even without a cable. I used external cable 12/2. After putting everything in the

Works well in most applications and weather conditions

This works well for most 120 volt only applications where you need an isolated "pass through" connection from an external generator to an internal outlet. You simply install it between the studs on the outer panel, connect a short piece of Romex and insert it into a special new socket either carved or mounted on an inner wall. This allows the generator to be used without having to run extension cords through a window or door. You still have to use extension cords around the house, but it's a…
