Precision right out of the box. The device is factory calibrated before shipment. I was checking the accuracy of this sensor based on many reviewer reports claiming they got the wrong models so I was curious to double check everything. I first put a thermometer in a Samsung digital readout that read 34 degrees Fahrenheit and the sensor reproduced that readout correctly. On the F scale, each step corresponds to 4 degrees. When tested on ice and water, the sensor read 32 degrees Fahrenheit. With both readings, I noticed that condensation had formed on the glass, so I had to wipe the glass to see the readings clearly.
