Bad quality: thermometer

4 pieces ordered. None of them worked right out of the box. The other three had different temperatures. I compared the temperature of the air conditioner thermostat and found values of +22, +8 and -5 degrees when tripled. The analog dial is small and the gradation lines are very close together at 4 degrees each, making it difficult to get accurate readings. Best bought locally at the hardware store. A little more expensive, but I'm happy with it.

EXACTLY out of the pack!

Precision right out of the box. The device is factory calibrated before shipment. I was checking the accuracy of this sensor based on many reviewer reports claiming they got the wrong models so I was curious to double check everything. I first put a thermometer in a Samsung digital readout that read 34 degrees Fahrenheit and the sensor reproduced that readout correctly. On the F scale, each step corresponds to 4 degrees. When tested on ice and water, the sensor read 32 degrees Fahrenheit. With…

Nice addition to your toolbox

I wasn't sure if my old Accord's air conditioning had gone weak. Rarely happens (only fill up with R12 refrigerant twice in 15 years. Yes, 15 years. Amazing Honda quality). This little thermometer that goes into the center vent allows me to monitor the performance of the air conditioner and see if it's dropped. It has a nice feature that the "target" range from 38-42 degrees is highlighted in green. All you have to do is look at the sensor to see if it's in zone, or try to read a very small…

Good product but needs immediate calibration

The problem with this product is that it is not calibrated. When I first used it, the lowest air conditioning reading in my car was 58 degrees. I happened to read another review that recommended placing the thermometer in a glass of ice water that should be 32 degrees and turning the nut at the bottom of the display to calibrate it to 32 degrees. As soon as I did that, the thermometer read 40 degrees on my air conditioner, which matched a friend's thermometer. It would be good to know in…

Works well but needs calibration

This basically does what it's supposed to do. My particular unit was about 4 degrees warmer, which is pretty significant. I don't think they are properly calibrated from the factory. Fortunately, the solution is simple. Take a glass, fill it with ice and fill the ice with water. Insert a thermometer, stir and allow to equilibrate. As long as ice and water coexist, the temperature is exactly 0 C or 32 F. Look at the temperature that the thermometer reads. When it's off, take a 10mm wrench and…
