Review on πŸŽƒ Ultimate Pumpkin Punchers Carving Kit for Kids - 24 Piece Set: Tools, Stencils, and Safe Carver by John Graves

I'm not very good at carving pumpkins - this made it easy and they look good.

I used this set with my 10 and 6 year olds. When we carve pumpkins, my kids usually give up quickly because they get tired. I end up doing most of the carving and my arm hurts the next day. This set made the process a lot easier. Yes, they look like giant cookie cutters. No, they're not the strongest of the cookie cutters, but they do the job. None of the cutters used were bent, but I saw it. My kids had a blast choosing shapes and creating their pumpkin masterpieces. It was a bit difficult for my kids to hold the cutter with one hand and the hammer with the other hand. We solved this problem by taking the adult hammer until the cutting edge was in place. Laying the pumpkin on its side on a chair (on a towel rather than a pillow) also helped to give my youngest more leverage. It was useful to have needle nose pliers and a spoon. I used both to push the template through the pumpkin if it got stuck (our pumpkins were thicker than the cutter). It was also a bit difficult (but not impossible) to get the pumpkin piece out of the template from the inside. This is where pliers come in handy. I grabbed the template with pliers and used the handle of the spoon to push through the pumpkin. I'm wondering if cooking the squash (boiling water or roasting in the oven) will soften it enough for the squash piece to be easily removed. There are enough pieces to get creative with faces or make a pattern (my son made a pumpkin themed video game - it's very abstract.) I'm not very good at pumpkin carving - paper templates are too heavy for me. This set made carving much easier and more enjoyable. I am very glad I made this purchase!
