I loved the yarn after I got used with it and found the right size hook. It is tedious at times because it splits and some of the balls have knots, but overall I was able to crochet some cool things with so many beautiful colors. Yes, the balls are small - but a decent size is you're doing amigurumi or granny squares, and supplement for the main color with yarn from the store. The needles broke fast and I did not care for the hook that comes with the kit, but I am still using the markers. Not sure if I'd recommend this for complete beginners. It's thick enough to make it easy, but it's splitting at times and it's slippery. I think there is a learning curve with any yarn and tools.
