Actual drill diameters are engraved on the drill. This is interesting as I've never seen this before with other step bits I've used. I don't use measurements when using step bits. I basically drill a little at a time, checking the hole until I get the right size. I'm not sure about the durability of these bits yet, but like me, when drilling, be sure to use some kind of oil so you don't burn the bit. The life of any drill depends on the hardness of the surface. we drill If you drive through aluminum they should last you quite a while, but if you drive through stainless steel they won't last long.
