I had a problem with my Honda Odyssey minivan where the engine RPM was fluctuating and the check engine light was on. I decided it was time to buy a scanner (I have an Ultragauge in another car but didn't want to risk reprogramming/losing settings) so I bought this LAUNCH code reader. Today it came, I connected it to the car and in less than a minute I got a text description of the "idle control system" problem. I now have the information I need to figure out how to do this repair - $60 well spent. I also like the fact that this device has a large and easy to read color display and very large buttons. My guess is that it comes with a USB cable for future upgrades and also apparently connects to a printer which might come in handy one day. Overall, I'm very happy with this purchase, especially as it has other features like checking emissions data and reading out engine parameters. My Ultragauge is more expensive and has a mediocre display (although I'll admit the UG serves a different purpose), so it's definitely worth the money.
