Review on Bosch RA1165 Under Table Router Above Table by David Alvarez

Good idea, poor execution (or quality control)

I bought this product to complement the Bosch RA1181 table in hopes that I would not need a router lift and could quickly switch my Bosch 1617 from a router table on a fixed or submersible base. The first few uses worked as expected, although it was a bit of a hassle to insert; Make sure the alignment arrows were correct and the motor was screwed into place. After a few more uses, it became increasingly difficult to insert the 1617 motor into the socket under the table until it wouldn't go in without using excessive force. Luckily, the scratches and scuffs that the under-table base leaves on the motor don't affect its insertion into the fixed or submersible base (although the fixed base is the same as the under-table base, minus the wooden handles and base plate). ). Unfortunately I have bought the entire ecosystem of Bosch routers and with a router table top of my own size I can't find a router jack that will fit in the table opening without modification. I'll either have to bite the bullet and buy another router like the Triton with built-in table adjustment features, or sell the Bosch router and table and start over with a more versatile setup.
