Contains the most important information needed when replacing a timing belt on a Subaru Outback. This was the first timing belt change I have ever done and the parts in this kit included all the important parts. When you change the timing belt, you can also replace all the tensioners, the water pump and especially the tensioner. The original idler pulleys were quiet when I took them off, but the idler pulley was making quite a noise and oil was leaking from the piston so I caught it in time. My car had 130,000 miles on it and the original belt looked pretty good but it was due for replacement and breaking it would destroy the engine (it's a locked engine). The water pump gasket will require an adhesive/sealant to hold it in place when installing the pump, otherwise it will be difficult to install as it is a metal gasket and cannot be properly positioned prior to installation. The thermostat gasket pictured in the WP gasket is a nice addition to use with a new thermostat (not included). You may also want to replace the crankshaft and camshaft seals when you get there (not included). Tips: Remove the heatsink/fan assembly for easier access to everything. Remove the alternator and use the old drive belt to hold the harmonic balancer in place to access the timing belt cover (pic added). Replace your drive belts while you're at it.
