Review on Gates 23556 Upper Radiator Hose by Dave Wheeler

Revainrating 3 out of 5

The cover is wrong and the spring doesn't fit without bending

For Dodge Dakota 3.9L 2001 As mentioned in another review, the AC lines are a bit tight at the top where they enter the engine block . Ut comes with a 20lb cap. Be sure to check your hat. I have a 16 lb cap and it still had the Chrysler symbol on it. So be sure to put on the right hat and, in an emergency, throw the "new” Junker hat or in the glove compartment. Incidentally, the lettering on the new cap is barely legible. The hose I replaced was GoodYear. You can buy GoodYear for about $5 more. GoodYear has real hose clamps on both sides of the cap, so you can later replace just one piece of hose. Make sure you find a kink-free spring in the hose to be replaced. This comes without a kink-free spring. I had one at GoodYear. Not sure if it came with GoodYear or if it's from the original Dodge part. I just took it out of the GoodYear tube and put it in this Gates tube. The spring is in the pipe that goes to the radiator. So I had no problems with kinks. The hose to the radiator is a little longer. I would recommend GoodYear for a few bucks more. They are available on ebay but not on Revain. 3 stars, -1 for the cap and -1 for no feather crease.
