I was looking for a way to "get my cake and eat it". In other words, I needed a metal plate for the back of my phone so I could use the magnetic holder in the car, but I also wanted to be able to charge it wirelessly since a typical metal plate tends to block the wireless charging signal. The reason I bought this square bowl is that it should work with wireless chargers. And that's basically it. My phone tends to disconnect and reconnect the wireless charger a few times when the plate is in place, so as I said it works but not perfectly. In addition, it is thicker than a normal round or square metal plate and feels good in the hand. Also, it doesn't have the same magnetic holding power as a regular metal disc, so if your car hits bumps while driving, it's bound to fall over. So yes it works, but it's not perfect.
