Review on 🐧 DeLonghi Penguino PACEX390UVcare-6AL WH 14000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner with Dehumidifier, Fan, and UV-Carelight (White) by Darryl Montagna

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Powerful cooling, very small build

Most importantly, it cools FAST and cools a large room very quickly. Received it on a very hot and muggy day and installed and cooled within 5 minutes of delivery (we just stuck the pipe out the door so we could stand in front of it!). The only assembly is the pipe connection. There is a water drain, but nothing needs to be connected, water will evaporate from the pipe. (and it can be drained for storage). The remote control is spartan but functional. What I don't like about this AC is that the louvers at the top where the cold air exits don't remember their last position when turned back on, they just move to the middle. So if you don't want the blinds to move back and forth and point in a certain direction, you'll have to fiddle with it every time. We've dropped the fuss and just let it point where it wants to go and it works almost as well. How much space it can cool: It's 700 square feet, our first floor is 600, but it has high ceilings and it really took a job to cool that space. On the other hand, our starting basement has the same footprint but much lower ceilings, and this air conditioner cools it down quickly. So volume is a factor. Either way, it really pumps out cold air and is a welcome addition to our home. UV-C is just there, it seems to be doing its job well, how can you say? I'm not sure. But if we rely on it, we should see fewer air-related problems in the home. I can say that my husband's allergies weren't as annoying as with other air conditioners we've had in the past. Maybe that's a good sign that UV-C is doing its job. One issue we have with all AC units is that they don't really have a casement solution, it's just a 'good luck with it' sort of thing. Can someone PLEASE make an adjustable window frame insert! After all, it's not "intelligent". maybe I should say that he doesn't try to pretend to be smart! Not entirely sure I want to control this from my Google Mini, it can't be controlled from phones, minis, echoes or cats anyway.

Pros
  • worth the money
Cons
  • not sure
