When I was looking for this product, I really wanted a glass coated lens. There are reasons why existing car mirrors are made of GLASS. Like a car, they are used for years and the plastic can tarnish or discolour. Especially with a small blind spot mirror, I didn't want to do without optical clarity. They have a fairly low profile with an aluminum rim that isn't very noticeable. I think only time will tell if the sticky pad will survive the southern summer (I'll update the review if there are any issues). You are perfect for now, *** UPDATE 4/1/2015 (no April Fool's Day update) *** Scratching the email I found a reply to my original review but the reply appears to have been deleted. In any case, the reviewer felt that the mirrors he received were NOT glass and cheaply made. That was also my own first impression, by the way. My skepticism led me to find a test for glass: heat the needle with a lighter, then press it against the lens. I did it then and only now. The lenses appear glassy or quite heat-resistant. Mine are still crystal clear. He also expressed concern about the small square of glue used to attach the mirrors. While mine haven't fallen off yet, I have no reason to doubt several reviews to the contrary. I will pre-purchase and apply some 3M glue based on these reviews. *** For the price I still give 5 STARS. RECOMMENDED*****UPDATE 06/17/17 Definitely glass. The mirror failed the test on the telephone pole. It's worth noting that the mirrors remained tacky and clear after a few years. i buy another one
