If the calipers freeze, check the brake lines too!

(Husband watches) My car is a 2005 Mercury Sable LS, front calipers/rear drum brakes. Received the brake lines (LF and HF side) today, Saturday, 09/12/20. I replaced both front brake calipers (LF froze and the piston bellows were torn) about two weeks ago. 180,000 on original calipers. Fast forward to 9/9. The LF caliper behaved like it would freeze and reheat, so it must have been a bad/collapsed brake line. At first I suspected that the master cylinder might be failing, but I didn't have these symptoms (pedal to the floor to stop, etc.). So new brake lines. These are made of rubber and extend from the metal elements on the inside of the front fenders. In any case, the brake hoses were renewed. Took about 30 minutes, each side, bleeding and all. Test drive - smooth. I don't have the "pull" to the left that I had when braking. Also better braking power. Good pedal. Also replace all brake components in pairs! I had no problems with the HF, but I replaced the line anyway. If anything happens in the next month, good or bad, I'll let you know. At the moment it looks like happy driving!
