Save $1,000

2012 VW Jetta 2.5L Vacuum Pump. Powered by the cam interface. They start to leak at around 50,000 miles and when oil spills over the transmission's junction and blocks onto the road, they are often misdiagnosed as a rear main seal leak. Dealers charge about $1,000 for repairs (with a spare pump). ). But there's no reason the average person who knows how to use a wrench can't make this repair in less than 90 minutes with this kit. You will need a set of metric sockets (10 to 14) and torx bits (15 to 30). There are some great YouTube videos detailing the process. The orientation of the inner metal spacer had its drawbacks. Otherwise the installation was easy. In this kit I found that the outer "O-ring" was 5-10mm too long and clearly wouldn't fit in the groove. About 10 seconds of using the heat gun (followed by air cooling) reduced them by about 3mm. Another 20 seconds of heat reduced him to his size.
