Updated 11/16/20 It's been about 10 weeks since I bought Velmia. I've ridden it several hundred miles (400+). I typically ride 100+ miles a week but as the weather is colder/rainier this is a limitation. But that also means that on good days I ride further than usual. Instead of my usual daily 12-16 mile loops, I do 22-35 mile loops whenever I can. I mention all this to say that the Velmia seat is MUCH more comfortable than I originally thought! I've made my longest trips this year. sometimes on days in a row and sometimes between days (because of bad weather) and Velmia just felt totally at ease! No painful sensations. I'm really a bit shocked about it! LOL Not to mention it still looks brand new. I'm still keeping my rating at 4/5 stars simply because the 5th star is for durability and only time will tell. I highly recommend this seat. >> Original Review: >> I've only had 4-5 saddles in the last 30 years so I'm not an expert. My previous saddle was the Cloud 9 and it was very comfortable! But it was so BIG. It always looked weird on my 1988 Schwinn Sierra MTB. But it was so D$@! Glad I didn't care! Unfortunately it only lasted about 5 years before a couple of bad falls ripped it apart. In those 5 years I've lost a lot of weight, so I wanted something more fitting (anatomically and aesthetically). This Velmia certainly fits aesthetically, and the longer nose (compared to the Cloud 9) and seat ventilation feel a lot better. , anatomical. But of course that's not so convenient. On cloud nine I just dropped onto my ass and sat there nicely. On Velmia, I have to watch how I sit; Make sure my sit bones are right where they need to be for a comfortable seat. It's not bad. just different. I'm sure I'll get used to it. Another plus of Velmia is its opacity. It's not a slippery material so I don't slide forward on it like I do on the Cloud 9. But it also means I have to lift my butt to change position as the material is held up by my shorts when I try to just slip into them. another place. Again, not bad, just different. The longer nose certainly feels more comfortable and supportive, and its absence on the Cloud 9 was at least part of the reason I slid forward and had to switch positions so often. I've ridden it 100 miles since it arrived and have had no pain in the ass, and that's after having ridden over 1000 miles on my Cloud 9 since early summer. I'm fine! The last piece of the puzzle and of course the most important. How durable is Velmia? The time will show. But I sure hope it's going to be a good LONG time!
