I was disappointed with these handles as they were metal. Silver was the only one that could be easily identified and used as a metal. The green and blue had a very slight metallic sheen that could be seen when the paper was tilted in the sun. The rest of the pens were an entirely matte color, including gold, which was particularly disappointing; a flat dark brownish gold that I can't see at all. The good news is that the brush tips were very manageable and the ink flowed well with no gaps, drips or stuttering, and it was easy to control the width of the marks depending on how much pressure you were using on the exercise tips. . However, if you want metallic colors, this set is not for you. I did not return them, assuming I would use silver. In the meantime, I'm still looking for a decent metallic gold brush.
