This product is for indoor use. I bought two of these to measure the width of roads and sidewalks and both broke. I've used other similarly designed wheels and the handle locking mechanisms are bound to fail due to normal wear and tear, but I've had no problems with the metering function. It was just the opposite: the locking mechanisms are good, but the internal gears broke or shifted after being used on hard, somewhat uneven terrain. No issues with accuracy or usability, I just want to warn other potential buyers that this device may not be suitable if you need to use it extensively outdoors.
