Review on 🌷 Tulip i-Cord Knitting Machine - by Kristen Reid

Thicker yarn doesn't work for me

I have EmbellishKnit (purple, similar to many others here except mine is branded). It works great with yarn up to and including #3 but has issues with #4. I found reviews saying this item would work for #4 so I bought it. And I can't get it to work with this yarn count. First, the tubing is *very slightly* larger - maybe a millimeter - than the tubing on the EmbellishKnit, so that should help a bit (if the tubing is too tight, the line will get stuck). But that's not the case; You have to constantly pull on the cord to thread the thread under the tab. I expect, that it is done initially, but not when there are several inches of cable hanging from the floor and when a weight is attached throughout the process (these small machines absolutely need a weight). If that thread - the old loop - isn't under the tab, it won't knit, the yarn will curl into a hook, and you'll have to remove everything - which isn't easy - and start over. also mentioned that the latches don't open easily and I think that's part of the problem; I also had to open a lot more manually than I should have. But I also wonder if the hooks are too small for thicker yarn (ie #4). I also had some thread splitting issues - some of the yarn got stuck on the hook which wasn't going to happen, if the entire thread were put in the hook. It works well with thread #3 and slightly thinner; I have some thread laying around for embroidery, so I gave it a try and the machine handled it well. He gets at least one extra star for that. But my other machine can do it all too, and carabiners have no problem opening or separating layers. I don't want two machines doing basically the same thing and because this one has other issues it's back. Trademark. Can't speak to the quality of the other "Purple" listed here) and snap hooks have no issues opening or separating layers. Pros
  • High test results for hold and durability
Cons
  • Not as thick as others
