I purchased this product to paint a dozen new and existing doors for a renovation project. For both the existing doors (sanded bad spots but generally in good condition with existing paint) and the new solid wood and MDF hollow doors I used two coats of water based latex paint - a very thin coat each time. The doors have a decent amount of trim - not smooth, flat surfaces. The result was amazing - the finish looks factory new - absolutely perfect. I have used several sprayers over the years to paint walls, doors and fences - I have to say it was the best experience I have ever had with a sprayer. Be sure to follow the cleaning instructions - after painting, you need to fill the container with water and spray out the remaining paint. The nozzle is an easy clean with water using a washcloth or toothbrush. Hope that helps.
