Purpose: To install USB, audio and HDMI connections on the front of the gaming device Holes Required: 30mm38mm Wood Thickness: About half an inch Wood Type: Laminated Thick Chipboard (VERY strong) My experience with the Drilling : I'm a beginner. Also, I used a hole saw drill bit for the first time. Drill I used: An old main drill I borrowed. __________ Pros and cons of the product. Pros: - The drill works on a hand drill - It works (my photos show the result) - It's pretty sharp. Not a top knife, razor sharp, but definitely sharp enough to cut through all my holes. I think that's what they mean when they "self-feed" a drill bit drilled into wood, first the drill bit, then the hole saw grabs the wood and then starts cutting the hole. This made it VERY easy to cut a perfect circle. The drill has slots on the sides. Allows a flat head screwdriver to be easily inserted into the slots to pry out any wood stuck in the drill bit (my photo shows wood stuck in the drill bit). TIP: Insert a flathead screwdriver into one of the slots. Push the wood out a little. Then take out the screwdriver and put it in another slot. And slide out the wood. And slowly move back and forth, pushing each hole until the tree pops out, or enough for you to grab the tree with your hand and pull it out. BUT BE CAREFUL: The metal drill is VERY HOT after you drill through it. Don't touch it with bare hands. Give it a few minutes to cool down. Unless you have protective gloves or something. Red drill. I like red. So be careful. But just know. After drilling a few holes. The red color begins to peel off. It looks like a battered Iron Man suit after 1 or 2 holes. But it's normal. Color doesn't matter - packaging. Comes exactly as pictured. They are supplied in small and lightweight individual plastic cases. So when you're done, you can put the drill back in its case. There is a label on the body with the size of the drill - spring. This drill has a spring. Honestly I have no idea how useful this is and how it works. All I know is that the product works. My holes were cut very straight. I put in a little effort. It took 1 minute or less to cut through. I drove at an average speed. I tried to be very careful not to hit the wood with my hand once I broke through, and also tried not to twist my wrist with the drill bit. Towards the end of the hole, the drill wanted to rotate a bit, but I held on with both hands to prevent it. _____________ CONS: - The holes I made weren't 100% perfect (a few VERY SMALL wood chips around the edges of the hole), but that's probably my rookie mistake. I used a black marker to tidy up the small chips. The adapters I installed hide some shortcomings. ADVICE. When drilling into wood, the visible side is the side you want to drill into. Because the other side of the tree will be severely damaged. Basically. The wood in the arcade wood cabinet is badly damaged after I made the holes. The wood is very badly chipped. But it's normal. Nobody will see this page. MAKE SURE YOUR DRILL IS TURNING IN THE CORRECT DIRECTION OR YOU WILL BREAK THE DRILL. My 38mm bit broke (BUT IT WAS MY FAULT) No instructions. They expect you to know what you're doing. I borrowed the drill that I used. It was given to me and it was set the wrong way. I did not notice. I didn't even think it mattered. Until the 38mm drill broke. There were no problems with the 30 mm drill. But the 38mm drill bit is threaded to allow the hole saw to be removed. You can turn the hole saw on and off with your bare hands. So if I cut 38mm in the wrong direction. The wood saw was stuck in the wood and could not turn in that direction. So I accidentally stripped off the thread holding the 38mm hole saw in place. rookie mistake. CHECK HOLES: As you can see in my photos. test holes made. I cut holes in the foam core and then inserted the adapters. Just to check. I think you can do the same with cardboard boxes. A good way to check if you need the right size. MORE INFO: For those who buy these USB 3.0 adapters etc and wondering what size they use, here is the information: Dual USB 3.0 = 30mm hole USB 3.0 + Audio = 30mm hole, Dual HDMI = 38mm hole
