Review on MikroTik Routerboard RB2011 UiAS-2HnD-IN with SFP Port and 10 Ethernet Ports by Joe Griggs

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Sophisticated hardware but very feature rich and appears to be of great quality

I took a chance and ordered one of these so I never had to use my FIOS router again. The only feature that's really "missing" is 5GHz WiFi, since it's only 2.4GHz. If you don't know what that means, you probably aren't considering this router. It's always possible to use a separate hotspot, as I already do. So if you need "AC" WiFi, you can still do it. Is it difficult to set up? Yes but no. There is an easy way to set this up using a browser like any other in the Quick Setup section, where you can enter your SSID, WiFi password and encryption, and router password. The first port is the one you connect to your cable modem or other ISP box, although this can be adjusted to dig deeper into the settings. As shown, there are 5 gigabit ports and 5 10/100 ports. . That's way more than most routers offer, and chances are you have a lot of 10/100 devices that aren't using gigabit speeds anyway. You can always configure your DHCP client port (which goes to your ISP) to be one of these ports as well. home" and this could also be your DHCP client port in "simple" settings. It supports 1 Gbps (10 Gbps is another price range), and you can even buy a gigabit copper SFP adapter so that You have an additional Gigabit Ethernet port for around $20.The front USB port works with the included "USB on the go" cable, allowing you to either use an external drive or a 3G/4G adapter for internet use The router isn't even that big, in fact it's smaller than the FIOS I had It seems to work fine in my house where I have that, a 5Ghz access point and 3 switches running at about 20 ethernet devices are filled. The configuration options are very extensive and I look forward to seeing what they all do, but you don't necessarily NEED to mess with them. UPDATE: 2.5 years later and this thing is just plain reliable. I had to never reset it without the firmware re update and it will handle anything I throw at it.
