I know they're doorknobs. I made an industrial style wooden table with a metal top and wanted a computer monitor stand on top of the table, but I didn't want anything plastic. I took two of these, painted them bronze, screwed a 3/8th wood shelf to the bottom of the handles (hidden most of the screws) and everything works great. They are very durable and the best price I found on the web :)
