It was great value for me. I am NOT an optician but I have calculated a magnification of around 10x, however with a phone attachment it can be 20x or more. a way. I photographed it with my iPhone 6s (no zoom). The red area of the glass was 30px high. I attached my phone to the scope and took a second shot, the height of the red area was 280 pixels. Finally, I zoomed in from my phone and took a photo, and the red area was 640px high. I welcome expert comments to put my test results in a larger context. This is a portable handheld oscilloscope. The higher the magnification, the more unstable the image will be unless mounted on a very strong tripod. If you hold a telescope and try to magnify something 50x, the image will be frustratingly shaky and probably unusable. As others have said: just throw away the included tripod; Attach it to a more powerful tripod if you intend to use it for photography. The included carry case, wrist strap and cleaning cloths are good. In general, I think it's a great thing.
